Hallelujah- it’s the first day of October! It’s crazy how quick time flies. It seems like just yesterday was the first day of summer. I can vividly remember last winter, even! And now we’re closing in on the end of 2016 and starting 2017 soon. However, as bittersweet as that feeling of summer coming to an end and the year coming to an end, that autumn brings, autumn also brings beautiful bright colored leaves, PSL, apple cider, pumpkin and apple picking, and so much more! Cozy nights spent underneath a blanket, reading a book, sipping hot tea at candlelight is the epitome of everything fall.
So let’s get to the good stuff…this month I’m doing my own version of Youtober for the blog, so Blogtober! I’ll be posting a new post every day and being active on all of my social media platforms. It’s definitely going to be a challenge, but it’s so worth it!
As my first Blogtober post I wanted to start with October Favorites! If you haven’t noticed I really love Fall and specifically the October/November months. I comprised a list of my favorite things in October, focusing specifically on health, fitness, and inspiration.
What are your favorites for fall?
Love,
Maxi
October Favorites:
Favorite Blog: www.jessicadimas.com
This has got to be my favorite new blog featuring all sorts of great content like self care routines, best guided meditations, and so much more. If you’re interested in diving into the world of personal development, you’ll find helpful posts here. One of my favorite posts you can read here.
Fitness/Health: Foam roller
I recently have started experimenting with the foam roller in order to help with my natural alignment. It’s helped tremendously loosening some of my muscles, since my shoulders and back tend to be very tight, and it also helps with soreness after that workout! If you’re new to foam rolling, here is an article from Shape magazine that’ll help get you started.
Book: “Playing Big” by Tara Mohr
This is a great book especially for women. I love anything that focuses on female empowerment, but it goes beyond just that. With so many helpful tips and tools on how to change your outlook, and accomplish your goals, this is a truly important book for all women who sometimes struggle with confidence, motivation, and/or having a healthy perspective.
Smoothie: Carrot Cake Smoothie
This is a perfect smoothie for the fall! It’s sweet, satisfying and has that cinnamon taste that is so typical for fall. The protein powder I use has a specific amino acid called Leucine that helps you maintain muscle, and lose the fat. So this makes for a great complete breakfast, a meal on the go (though I don’t recommend eating or drinking anything in a rush) or a post-workout meal. Recipe here.
Natural Cosmetics: Valentina’s Home-brewed Natural Body Mist in Sunny Outlook
Besides using this as a perfume, this is great for deepening your meditation or yoga practice. It’s soothing to get a whiff of Mandarin while moving from downward facing dog to upward facing dog. It’s very light, so you might have to reapply a few times throughout the day, if you’re using it as a perfume.
Food: Amore di Mona Chocolate with Currants
This is my absolute favorite chocolate bar. It’s only 1.25 oz, so it’s perfect for me who doesn’t have much self-control when it comes to sweets. It’s also low glycemic, meaning it doesn’t spike your blood sugar like crazy resulting in a drop shortly after followed by fatigue like other chocolate bars. It’s a perfect chocolate bar for those who have dietary restrictions, since it’s vegan, gluten-, soy-, and nut- free. Just because there’s a long list of what it doesn’t have, does not mean it doesn’t have flavor, either! The currants give it a relevant feel for fall, and surprises you in texture.
