One of the newer obsessions of Instagram is the ever popular matcha latte. Matcha is a type of green tea, available in powder form. With summer weather having arrived in the DMV area, it makes for a simple yet refreshing treat.
In the beginning I thought it was such a beautiful green color and was all excited to try it, but I have to admit I’ll never become a spokesperson for the traditional hot matcha latte. As I’ve told so many of my friends, while sipping on one, “it tastes like dirt”. By that all I mean is be prepared for a strong green tea flavor, that is very earthy.
This iced version of the matcha latte doesn’t have the strong earthy taste, and has a slightly sweet flavor. It’s much more enjoyable than any of the ones I’ve had at a cafe, and considerably cheaper considering I found a whole tin of it for $5.99! (Usually a matcha latte with almond milk rounds up to $4.)
Now I can be found consistently making this yummy ice cold drink on a warm summer day, after a long walk or a sweaty yoga session!
Questions for you:
- Have you tried matcha lattes before? Hot or cold? Do you like it?
- Where have you had the best matcha latte?
- What’s your favorite summer drink?
Love,
Maxi
