For me music is a HUGE part of my life. Not only is it my coping mechanism, but it is also my motivation in my workouts. It literally can make or break my work outs.
I’ve been on a snack craze lately. And coincidentally my newest snack obsession is a raw or almost raw protein ball. It’s convenient, healthier than a piece of cake, delicious, and has plenty of nutrients! I didn’t know what kind of flavor to write up as a blog recipe first, but in the midst of shopping for ingredients I remembered I only had coffee protein powder. First I panicked, thinking I couldn’t possibly create a protein ball recipe that was good and had coffee in it, but low and behold I saw bananas and knew exactly what to fix!
It’s so easy to forget to take care of yourself. I know I frequently do and it never seems like a big deal until I realize that my confidence and therefore happiness levels are low. Small things such as exercising daily for half an hour, or properly removing my nail polish (once it’s chipped) are things that can make all the difference!
I was feeling nostalgic lately and remembered how in middle and high school my Dad used to make me a banana milk every single day. It was smooth, creamy, refreshing and comforting all at the same time. And I realized switching over to dairy-free shouldn’t mean I can’t have my favorite childhood drink!
This smoothie totally hit the spot and was oh so satisfying!
It is so easy to get discouraged by the slow progress one makes trying to accomplish any goal. This is something I have to tell myself everyday. It doesn’t matter how big the progress is, the fact of the matter is that I’m progressing at all! Any kind of progress is better than none. No matter how big or how small. We often don’t celebrate small accomplishments as we do big ones, yet it’s equally important.
This is embarrassing for me to share, but I’ve had some pretty bad acne in the past. I remember I’d drive my mom crazy, because I’d walk around with my head down, big sunglasses and a baseball cap feeling like a monster. I’d borrow my mom’s concealer everyday and cry because I felt like when people would talk to me, they’d be staring at my acne instead. It shouldn’t have been such a big deal, but I’ll admit even nowadays when I see a slight raise in my skin my head goes into panic mode.
My favorite way to start my day is by juicing a bunch of veggies and fruits. Not only do I feel refreshed and energized, but I feel like I’m doing something good for my body. There’s no better way to begin the day than treating yourself to a healthy breakfast. Paired with a fruit salad, some cut up raw veggies or some scrambled eggs, this makes for a nutritious, balanced and healthy meal.
Part of living a healthy and balanced life means having a morning routine (at least for me). Life can get so chaotic that I find it helpful to have something stable that I can count on. My ideal morning routine allows me to get into a positive mindset, wake up, get started on my goals early on, increase productivity for the rest of the day and give me a purpose.
Every time my goals or priorities change, I make adjustments to my routine to reflect those changes. It allows me to finish everything early on, and fully enjoy the evening to relax.
So here’s a routine that I’ve come up with that helps me not only achieve my goals in the particular areas of life I want to be successful in, but also to start my day with an open heart and mind.
I know I’m much calmer, peaceful, happy and balanced when I start my day like this and don’t have to worry about my schedule, getting a workout in or anything else. It’s really been a life saver!
What does your morning routine look like? Please let me know in the comments!
Love,
Maxi
Hello!
Oh man, this is the dreaded first post. The post no one knows what to write about. I have so many ideas for posts but none would suffice for a decent Introduction. So let me introduce myself.
My name is Maximiliane Smith. I’m way too clumsy for my own good (which is why I often have bruises that I don’t know how got there), and when I have a new project in hand I can go totally overboard and forget everything around me. Most important fact to know about me? Food. I love food. Probably too much for my own good, but I love experimenting in the kitchen with whole foods and coming up with recipes with very few ingredients. Health is my jam (if it were music at least) and I believe in achieving it through balance in all areas of life. I’m a wannabe yogi, wandering spirit, and lover of all art forms.
